Recycling in Shah Rasool Colony
Showing the bag to put in garbage for recycling at student Pershan’s home on January 23, 2008. It is very important to introduce the concept of recyling to both the students and their parents.
First Aid Workshop
Dr. Nighat talking about first aid to the childrens’ parents on the 20th of January 2008. The response was extremely good. She even asked the parents about their various problems and how to solve them. She will be visiting twice a month from now on.
St. Patrick’s Cathedral 25-12-07
Tahira and I attended the Christmas Mass with Mr And Mrs. D’Sa at 1000am. It was a great day with many people at theĀ beautiful church.
International Day of Disabled People
Eight children of the Garage School were invited to celebrate the International day of Disabled People organized by the Childrens’ Museum for Peace and Human Rights on the 3rd of December, 2007. Guru Nanak’s Birthday
On Saturday, November 24th 2007, we visited Gurdwara Guru Granth Saheb in Ranchore Lines, Karachi to celebrate the birthday of Guru Nanak, the first saint of the Sikh religion.
Universal Children’s Day
We just returned from the Arts Council where 12 kids along with teacher Tahira were invited to watch “We have the power”, a multimedia show to celebrate Universal Children’s Day. The event was organized by the Children’s Museum for Peace and Human Rights.
Measles Vaccinations
On 16th November, 2007 four staff members came from the immunization department of UNICEF to give measles vaccination to 130 children at the Garage School.
Dewali Celebrations 2007
On the 9th of November, 2007, we celebrated Dewali or Deepawali, “The festival of Light” by visiting three temples in the city with the Hindu and Sikh students along with Christian and Muslim teachers.
